  • Democracy in Cambodia - 2003: A Survey of the Cambodian Electorate is an Asia Foundation (6/6) report of a national survey of Cambodia's population in advance of the July 2003 National Assembly elections. The aim of the survey, which is a follow-up to a similar poll conducted in 2000, is to provide detailed information on the knowledge and attitudes of Cambodian voters, so that NGOs and other providers of voter education can more accurately plan their efforts. The survey also repeated a variety of questions from the first survey, providing measures of the progress of democratization in Cambodia and the impact of voter education projects. The study builds on the findings of an earlier phase of the research, involving in-depth interviews with voters in Phnom Penh and five rural villages, conducted in December of 2002.
