Year Round
The Japan Information Access Project
is looking for an energetic, motivated young scholars committed
to learning about Japan, and the politics of the U.S. relationship
with Japan and Northeast Asia.
We are a small nonprofit research center
studying Japanese and Northeast Asian science, security,
foreign, and public policy. The Project publishes a twice-weekly
electronic newsletter and occasional research reports, as
well as holds briefings and conferences on critical US-Japan
issues for the US policy community. The position is an excellent
introduction to Washington Japan policy environment.
Internship activities will
include:
performing general administrative and office
duties
monitoring issues affecting U.S. policy toward
Japanese trade and technology
assisting with programs for U.S. trade, defense,
and technology officials
researching sources of U.S.-Japan trade,
security, and technology issues
We seek an individual who can
learn quickly office procedures of a small
non-profit organization and who has excellent computer and
Internet skills
research issues concerning Japan and East
Asia, and has interest in American foreign policy, international
economics, and security policy
work in a political environment gracefully
and who has innate political sense and people skills
work independently and take initiative in
identifying projects and areas of need
Basic
Requirements:
GPA 3.5 or higher, some exposure to the languages of Northeast
Asia, interest in Washington politics
Possibility of a small stipend.
